Milly Dowler disappeared on 21 March 2002, her remains were found 6 months later in Yateley Heath woods.
Bellfield, a 39-year-old former nightclub bouncer, was put behind bars on a life sentence, last month for the murders of Amelie Delagrange, a 22-year-old French student, Marsha McDonnell, a gap year student aged 19, and the attempted murder of 18-year-old Kate Sheedy.

Immediately after his conviction, police found information and evidence which linked him directly to the murder of Milly.

***It's so horrifying to hear stories like this . About young girls being abducted. But its even worse to hear that their bodies were discovered so long after the crime, (but in this case at least it was discovered).
To some extent I just can't believe that Bellfield has been getting away with murdering young girls for so long, they should have found him after his first victim was discovered. Instead of allowing him to ruin more lives. And these are the only ones we know about so far, god only knows how many more have not yet been discovered.
While stories like this come as a surprise and you just think to your self oh my god, how could anyone be so cruel, how much do these stories really shock us? and what does that tell us about the society we live in today?***

I admit that it is very frightening that we have such violent crimes in this country. And it's upsetting to hear that these women have lost theire lives for the simple sake of a "kick" most of the time.

But to complain about the police's actions is rather naive. The process of finding and convicting criminals is not like the programs we watch such as CSI! It doesn't take just under an hour to analyse evidence and being in this country limits our access to such devices due to funding.

Secondly, these murders are highly over exaggerated, which is the normal route the media take in these news bulletins. Comparing the crime figures in this country to others, we seem to be living in a place wrapped in cotton wool!

But don't get me wrong, the increase in murders is a bad sign for the world we live in today, nevertheless, until someone invents a formula to prevent people from killing people, we're only going to have to continue watching these onslaughts.

I agree with you to some extend, but i really do believe the police could do more. And the media does exaggerate, however to a point, a person being stabbed, or raped and then killed etc they dont really need much exaggeration.
And we are reading about a different case everyday, or seeing it on the news, gang violence have increased and the figures produced by the home office have never been so high.

I disagree with your statement that "we live in a place wrapped in cotton wool" because compared to 30 years ago the crime levels and drug abuse in this country have increased rapidly and the police could do much more. for example in Hounslow we have a police station however you barely see any of them on the high street, and you really would expect them to be there seen as so many violent attacks take place during the daytime and night time in Hounslow high street.

Thank you for your comment, hopefully I'll be hearing from you again very shortly.
